Created & Found Launch

Yesterday evening saw the official launch of created + found, a batch lifestyle and homeware range designed by Food Stylist, Jette Virdi. The project, a collaboration with makers across Ireland, captures slow living in a uniquely Irish context.

Using materials traditional to our tiny island - rustic woods, beeswax, handmade ceramics and delicate linens in a contemporary design which incorporate age old craft practices, the collection as a whole evokes a perfect harmony between the old and the new.

The collaboration between Jette and Irish makers revolves around values of community, honesty and authenticity. Working with Crafters in Kilkenny, Westport, Wexford and Donegal, the created + found collection further adds to the contemporary Irish design scene but most importantly it is a true celebration of Irish materials, makers and Jette's beautiful designs.

And on that note, anyone who follows Jette's idyllically composed Instagram feed will be well acquainted with her eye for style. Her ability to create naturally perfect and evocative food scenes is proof of her innate flare for the topic and so the exquisite aesthetic and harmony of created + found comes as no surprise at all.

The full created + found range includes a ceramic dinner plate, a bowl, a beaker, five sizes of chopping boards, linen aprons and tea towels, napkins, two variations of wooden spoons and beeswax candles, with prices ranging from €8 - €55.

I fell in love with the raw natural beauty of the chopping boards and picked up two. Like Jette herself, I know these pieces will bring something special to the table, literally.
